# Which Taskade MCP do I want?

Taskade speaks MCP (Model Context Protocol) through **three** surfaces. Pick by what you want to do — the transport and auth details are secondary.

| I want to…                                                                                             | Use                                                                       | Where / auth                                                                                        |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Have Claude **read & write my tasks** — create, complete, assign, set dates and fields | [**Workspace MCP**](/developers/workspace-mcp.md) (`@taskade/mcp-server`) | Local stdio · personal token ([settings/api](https://www.taskade.com/settings/api)) · any paid plan |
| **Orchestrate my workspace from my IDE** — create projects, manage & prompt agents, edit my app's code | [**Hosted Taskade MCP**](/developers/workspace-mcp/genesis-app-mcp.md) | Hosted · OAuth 2.0 (`https://www.taskade.com/mcp`) · any paid plan |
| Let my agents **reach Slack, Shopify, Gmail** & other tools | [**MCP Connectors**](/developers/mcp-connectors.md) | Hosted, in-product |

> **Heads up:** The hosted Taskade MCP now creates projects, manages and prompts agents, and edits your Genesis app's code — but it has **no task-level write tools** (create/complete/assign/date a task) and no media upload. For task-level writes, use [**Workspace MCP**](/developers/workspace-mcp.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.taskade.com/developers/mcp-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
